Samuel Brannan raised these walls on Front Street during the Gold Rush, when Sacramento was still being invented.
The Family
A Sacramento Restaurant Family Began.
Frank Fat opened his first dining room downtown, and for decades the family fed this city one room at a time.
Fat City
Then the Bar Arrived.
Fat City opened on Front Street and brought with it a hand-carved back bar, already more than a century old, hauled west from Colorado and set against the back wall. For forty-three years this address was where the city came to celebrate.
The Close
The Lights Went Out.
Fat City served its last night. The building stayed. So did the bar.
The Revival
Then V Saw What It Could Be.
He took the keys to a dark building on Front Street and decided this room deserved a second life.
V's Paradise
